History

RBA's evolution spans a quarter of a century. It is a story of experience, growth and an entrepreneurial spirit that continues to this day.

Early 1980's   Charon Planning Corporation is founded by a New Jersey venture capital firm to provide employee benefit plan brokerage services to their companies.

Late 1980's   Charon Planning is purchased by Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company.

Early 1990's   Charon Planning is purchased from Mutual Benefit Life by the general agency managing the ongoing relationship with the founding venture capital firm.

Mid 1990's   Charon Planning's current managing directors join the firm and Charon Planning quickly evolves into a growing, full service benefit consulting organization.

Late 1990's   Inc. Magazine names Charon Planning to its list of the 500 fastest growing privately held companies.

Through 2007

Charon Planning is sold to National Financial Partners (NFP), an NYSE listed firm that distributes financial and consulting services to companies and high net worth individuals. Simultaneous to the sale, Charon Planning's owners form Charon Management LLC, thereby retaining all management responsibility and authority for Charon Planning.

The sale provides Charon Planning with access to capital markets and the means to boost employee commitment and reward through stock ownership. NFP's national presence also expands Charon Planning's exposure and ability to serve clients across the country.

Although a member company of a larger organization, Charon Planning continues to operate like a boutique consulting firm, maintaining close client relationships, flexibility and the entrepreneurial spirit that made us successful.

 Today

Charon Planning's EB Practice becomes Renaissance Benefit Advisors and Renaissance Bank Advisors.
